Storing Mushrooms

The best way to preserve mushrooms is to place them unwashed in a brown paper bag and store in the refrigerator on the lowest shelf

Let them breathe

Alternatively you could place the mushrooms in the big bowl to let them breathe and cover with a cloth bag or a paper towel

Don't wash them immediately

Not washing mushrooms prior to storing gives them much longer shelf life and prevents them from turning slimy.

Mushrooms can be frozen in their raw state. Once you thawed the mushrooms cook them straight away. Do not freeze the thawed mushrooms again. You may freeze the sautéed mushrooms in an airtight container and store them in the freezer for up to 30 days
